Interactive Hide a Puzzle
This Tough Turtle Hide-a toy looks really mean -- it is just an act because he is a real softie. His shell is attached to his back with Velcro and a strong nylon strap (so that it cannot get lost). Inside his shell are four of the cutest little turtles. The little turtles are attached to the inside of the turtle with elastic -- Betsy is sure that they should come off. The advantage of the elastic is that they are easy to put back in and get ready for another round of Hide n Seek. Betsy made this dog puzzle toy in to a shaking toy by grabbing it by the shell -- then the turtle body and little turtles fly around and hit her. Each little turtle has a stiff heavy nylon (like the fabric they make suitcases out of) shell, and a big loud squeaker -- they are about 5.5 inches long...including their little turtle tails. The papa turtle is about 12 inches long, including his tail, and 7 inches wide at the widest part.

We have a 4 month old Airedale named Murphy. When we brought him home his "mom" sent him with, among other things, the Snakes in the Grass toy which was by far his favorite toy. He'd carry it around with him and work those little snakes constantly. So we decided to get him the Tough Turtle which is more challenging to get into. He loves that too. Figuring out the velcro took a little time, but we think he likes the sound as much as the challenge of the velcro. The only negative is the elastic straps holding the shell and the babies (oh how Murphy LOVES squeakers). If you dog like elastic, and Murphy does, it won't take long to chew through it. It would be better to attach them with some kind of stronger cord rather than elastic. We'll eventually cut the elastic off. Otherwise we highly recommend the these toys!
