in New Happenings at BestFriends General Store

Here are our BestFriends General Store’s Top Twenty Selling Dog Toys for 2009!  We have so many fun dog toys; however, these are the most popular dog toys for 2009.

This year’s list would probably look different had there had not been supply problems with several manufacturers.  Because of The Kyjen Company’s manufacturing problems, we were not able to get most of our plush puzzle dog toys for the last quarter of 2009!  The Sherpa Pet Group, makers of Go Dog Toys with Chew Guard, could not meet our customer’s demands for these great tough dog toys.  The Mulitpet Group could not keep up with the demand for Deedle Dudes singing dog toys, so we were out of them for several months…even with that one of the Deedle Dudes made it to this list.  We are sure that The eGGe would have made this list if they did not have a manufacturing problem, so we could not get any eGGe’s for about 9 months!  We sure hope that we will be able to get the product that our customers want in 2010.

  1. Egg Babie Replacment Eggs

    Egg Babies Replacement Eggs

6 Replacement Squeaky EGGS — These toys make it to the top every year!  Why?  Because squeak loving dogs love, their big squeakers, and they are the perfect size for squeaking over and over again.  These are the replacement eggs for Egg Babies Dog Puzzle Toys.

  2. Oy Vey Gefilte Talking Fish

    Oy Vey Gefilte Talking Fish

Oy Vey! Gelfilte Fish  – We wish we could get enough of this fun holiday toy to last all yearlong.   However, no matter how many we buy, we always run out.  This Jewish dog toy is fun for all dogs!

  3. I Qube Replacement Balls

    I Qube Replacement Balls

SIX Extra Squeaky IQube BALLS – What could be more fun that 6 squeeky dog balls?  These soft short plush balls are perfect for I-Qube (I Cube) dog puzzles and playing catch.

  4. Small Talking Babble Ball

    Small Talking Babble Ball

Small TALKING Babble Ball – Do you have a noise-loving dog?  Then they HAVE to have a Babble Ball.  These balls come in three sizes and three different sound categories — small, medium, & large — Animal Sounds, Talking Sounds, & Holiday Sounds.  Every time these balls move, they sound off!

  5. Gobbling Tyler Turkey

    Gobbling Tyler Turkey

Tyler Gobbling Turkey – You can’t help but to laugh when you hear this Gobble-Gobble voice chip toy.  This is a great gift for people as well as dogs.  We put them on our Thanksgiving table as decorations.  Then, after dinner, Betsy and Norman get them for their Thanksgiving treat.

  6. 14 Inch Jolly Ball

    14 Inch Jolly Ball

14 Inch Push-n-Play Jolly Ball Red – This 14″ Push-n-Play ball is made Jolly Pet, the makers of Jolly Balls.  This is the largest size durable dog ball on the market.  It is a perfect herding ball for dogs.  You should see Betsy get her 14-inch and 10-inch balls in a group.  Sometimes I put water in one so it does not cooperate with her instructions.  She works and works until it stays in place.  All Jolly Ball dog toys are made in the USA!

  7. Singing Awreatha Wreath

    Singing Awreatha Wreath

SINGING Christmas Wreath — Oh how we wish that The Mulitpet Group did not discontinue this toy.  This Wreath dog toy plays a music-box version, of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”.  Because of its shape, even little dogs can make this talking dog toy sound off.

  8. Hanukkah Dreidel Toy

    Hanukkah Dreidel Toy

Singing Hanukkah Dreidel – Some dogs just love having toys that have voices singing.  If that is your dog then this, dreidel dog toys, is the perfect toy for them.  Of course, it is the perfect Hanukkah toy for our Jewish dog friends too!

  9. Hide-a-Squirrel

    Hide-a-Squirrel

Hide A Squirrel Plush Puzzle — The Hide A Toys are so popular and so much doggy fun!  They would probably all be on this list if we had not run out and not been able to get any more.  The best part of this plush dog puzzle is that you can get replacement squirrels…it is not surprising that the replacement squirrels are on this list too!

  10. Deedle Dudes Cow

    Deedle Dudes Cow

Deedle Dudes Cow — This is one of Norman, The Sound Loving Dog’s, favorite noisy toys!  You might want to buy two Deedle Dudes…one for your dog and one for you.  This is one of those catchy tunes that do not get old.

  11. Replacement Little Squirrels

    Replacement Little Squirrels

3 REPLACEMENT Squirrels — These little toys are just perfect for dogs of all sizes.  They are replacements for the Hide A Squirrel stump puzzle dog toy…but Betsy and Norman think they are the perfect size for everyday play.

  12. Barking Shaggy Christmas Dog

    Barking Shaggy Christmas Dog

BARKING Shaggy Christmas Dog – One of the Shaggy Barking Christmas Dogs always makes this list.  These little dogs bark “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” or “Jingle Bells“.  Their small size makes them a perfect voice chip toy for our small noise-loving dog friends.  Don’t you just love these talking dog toys?

  13. Ball Jack

    Ball Jack

Ball Jack – This is a great fun toy.  It not only squeaks it rattles too!  Unfortunately, Party Pets has discontinued this toy so when our supply is gone, we will not be able to get any more.

  14. Large Bungee Octopus

    Large Bungee Octopus

Bungee Octopus — This has been one of the favorite toys at our house for years!  I just love the way the legs have elastic on the top so that they curl up — they are so much fun in a tug-o-war game.  By the way…we also have this fun toy is a small size too!

  15. Ty Trap Mouse/Rat

    Ty Trap Mouse/Rat

Bow-Wow Beanies Trap Mouse – Is it a mouse or a rat?  The Ty Company, makers of Beanie Babies, calls it a mouse.  I sure hope that I do not see this big of a mouse.  Ty Bow Wow Beanie Babies are one of the best dog toy values — they are made from quality plush and not only have a squeaker, they have crinkle paper too!  Ty dog toys are some of our favorite dog toys that we carry.

  16. Crowing Red Rooster

    Crowing Red Rooster

CROWING Red Rooster – Look Who’s Talking dog toys are classic toys.  This Rooster’s crow is the perfect way to wake up in the morning…well, at least that is what Norman thinks!

  17. Hide-a-Toy Magic Hat Dog Puzzle

    Hide-a-Toy Magic Hat Dog Puzzle

Magic Hat with Rabbits -- This Magic Hat with Rabbits is one of The Kyjen Company’s new Hide -A toy puzzle toys for dogs designs.  Not only is this a great puzzle toy…the little bunnies are so much fun to squeak.

  18. Nina Ottosson Dog Tornado Dog Puzzle

Nina Ottosson Dog Tornado Dog Puzzle

Dog Tornado – The Dog Tornado Puzzle made it to the Top Twenty Dog Toy list; however, I am surprised that it is not the Dog Brick Puzzle.  Nina Ottosson, the designer of Zoo Active Dog toys, designs these educational dog toys that promote your dog’s problem solving skills.  These Nina Ottoson dog toys are also called dog IQ puzzles, I think that is because they look like puzzles you might see in an IQ test.  Nina Ottosson’s challenging dog toys come in both a wooden and plastic version.  The wooden version is made in Sweden and is our favorite.

  19. Dr Noys' Extra Small Duckie

    Dr Noys' Extra Small Duckie

Dr Noys’ Extra Small Duckie Duck – Dr Noys’ Toys are some of the first dog toys we had when we opened our dog toy store.  They are Kong tough and they have replaceable squeakers too.  I was told that there will be new Dr Noy’s dog toy designs this spring…we can’t wait to see what they are!

  20. Lamb and Pig Water Bottle Cover Dog Toy

Lamb and Pig Water Bottle Cover Dog Toy

Sheep Bottle Buddies — Water Bottle cover dog toys are so popular because they never stop their crinkly sound.  When the water bottle is worn out…just replace it with a new one — then your dog can crunch away.  Water Bottle dog toy covers come in several animal shapes…we carry the Lamb and the Pig.

Soon I will be off to Trade Shows to see the new toys for 2010…I can’t wait to see what will be on this list next year!
